In my experience Vuze (Azureus) has had issues with some private trackers.

Depending on your home/isp configuration, either can still have issues which could require manual port forwarding

    Has anyone mentioned uTorrent yet?

  9. To my knowledge there is no client that automatically opens ports for you as it would require for it to be capable of controlling the security settings on your firewall, and you don't want that...

  10. oh, and in case no one mentioned it yet, I would definitely choose uTorrent...

I run Utorrent for XP under wine.

Still uses less resources than on native windows.

Wine is great. Utorrent is great. Ubuntu is great.

Don't know of any torrent client that would automatically open ports from you but these touters are easy enough to configure. I use bit torrent which works fine for me.

Possibly not a case of automatically opening ports as more like automatically searching for an available open port to use.

It allows you to connect to a tracker and download files from peers through the use of torrent files.

I went with the masses .I used to use ABC Torrent years ago but you had to open about 10 Ports to get decent rates and I hoped technology had moved on from there ,it has...

    thanks for the recommendations..

Quiet pc's ftw, I can barely hear my tower, it's quieter than my laptop it's a gaming pc with 4 cooling fans, a cpu and gfx fan, with obviously the psu fan, can't stand noisy pc's.

    Slightly back on track

    Utorrent aint all that bad

Thats the thing, i spent so long trying to get "quiet" i gave up and now I find a "peacefully noisy" PC better. Ie not one with fans that have uneven blades and make obviously obnoxious turbulance. I like my noise to be steady and constant.

buy decent brushless fans, ones that cost more then £5 and don't light up, you'll get a quiet pc, coupled with a fan speed controller.

    Er... maybe a wild card..

    But uTorrent

Used it for years without issue

upnp is over rated imo. Id still prefer to manually manage ports, takes seconds on most routers.
